Abhay Singh was born on March 3, 1990, in Sasrauli village of Jhajjar district, Haryana. He was an excellent student from an early age, and later on, he completed his aerospace engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. He then did his master’s in design, which further established his credentials as a very accomplished individual.
Transition to Spirituality
Despite his many successes in academics and professional pursuits, the COVID-19 pandemic changed his course of life in ways he didn’t think possible. Lockdown times made him question deeply about life and, of course, work. This period became an opportunity to dive into his explorations of spirituality, leading him eventually to give up domestic responsibilities and take on asceticism.

Controversies and Challenges
Yet, still, Abhay’s journey hasn’t been very easy. The Juna Akhara, one of the most important religious orders at Kumbh Mela, has recently expelled him for disrespecting his guru. According to Akhara, this guru-shishya tradition is sacred and to be preserved with devotion and discipline. Thus, Abhay had gone against it. Still, he is not about to give up. He will continue spreading the message of inner freedom and spiritual exploration.

Family & His Personal Life
Abhay’s choice of spirituality has deeply influenced his family. Karan Singh Grewal and Sheela Devi, who are his parents, have a mix of both support and negativity. His family is not supporting his decision in many ways; this is partly due to concern about his mental and physical health, but on the other hand, Abhay says he found what he needs.
Maha Kumbh Mela mein IIT Baba ki prerna daayi kahani

Navigating ever more intense nuances of spirituality within himself, he now stands there before us: all of him embodies resilience, exemplifying steadfast resolution.
Abhay said,
“I was born in Haryana’s Jhajjar. I did my schooling there then I started preparing for JE, after which I went to IIT Mumbai for Aerospace Engineering. Life took different turns, changed my path from engineering to arts, and kept changing my paths until I came to the ‘final truth,’ that’s how I would like to describe it.”
“I realised that my life took a lot of turns during my time there in aerospace engineering. There was a point where I started searching for a ‘meaning to life’ and finally then I found something which is destiny. If you read the lives of many people, you will find that there is no choice, you don’t choose bhakti, there is just a rujhaan, a connection to all this.”
“The operators of the Madi Ashram asked me to leave at night. They think I’ve become famous and might expose something about them, so they claim I’ve gone for secret meditation. Those people are talking nonsense.”
