

In a shocking sequence of events, North India experienced two significant earthquakes on Monday, February 17, 2025, causing widespread alarm among residents.

ToggleAt 5:36 AM, a 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck Delhi-NCR, with the epicenter near Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education in Dhaula Kuan at a shallow depth of 5 kilometers. Many in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad left their high-rise buildings in fright as the strong enough trembles woke others from sleep. As the earthquake struck, witnesses said they heard a loud rumbling sound.

Immediately addressing the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged peace and following safety guidelines. He told people to keep a close eye out for any aftershocks and reminded them that the officials are always watching the problem.
Tremors were felt in Delhi and nearby areas. Urging everyone to stay calm and follow safety precautions, staying alert for possible aftershocks. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation.

Another 4.0-magnitude earthquake was detected in Bihar’s Siwan area at a depth of 10 km just a few hours later, at 8:02 AM. The National Centre for Seismology verified the occurrence, which raised public anxiety already disturbed by the last earthquake in Delhi-NCR.
