NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore have safely returned to Earth following a nine-month mission on the International Space Station (ISS). Initially planned for a brief duration, their mission was prolonged due to technical issues with Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft, leading to their extended stay on the ISS.

The astronauts returned onboard SpaceX‘s Crew Dragon capsule, which splashed down safely off the coast of Florida. Upon landing, they were met by recovery crews and subjected to normal medical examinations to check their condition following the lengthy trip.
Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore spent roughly 900 hours aboard the International Space Station conducting scientific experiments and doing maintenance duties such as spacewalks. Their extended mission produced important long-term spaceflight data, which will support further exploration missions.
