On April 1, 2025, the Pakistan Army crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into the Poonch district of Jammu & Kashmir. This incursion started a mine explosion at about 1:10 pm, accompanied by unwarranted military firing from Pakistan. The Indian Army responded in a controlled and measured manner, ensuring the situation remained under control.

The Nangi Tekri Battalion, under the Krishna Ghati Brigade of the Indian Army, played a key role in this response. An official statement observed, “Our forces responded successfully in a regulated and measured manner. The situation is under control and careful observation.”

This ceasefire breach happened in the Panjtirthi region of the Kathua district, during ongoing security operations. Security officials saw unusual movement on March 31 night, which resulted in terrorists opening fire. Launched in a combined effort with the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), this operation resulted in a new encounter early on April 1.

The Indian Army emphasized the importance of adhering to the 2021 Director Generals of Military Operations (DGsMO) understanding to maintain peace along the LoC. Even though there was an agreement, there have been more cross-border shootings lately, which makes people wonder whether the peace will work.

The situation along the LoC is tense but under control. The Indian Army is on high watch to stop things from getting worse.
