Alarmed by the message, she decided to cancel her ride. She describes being in a panic and said that she immediately ran into her house with all of her luggage. The driver also cancelled the ride just soon after.
Uber Response
The woman filed her case with Uber’s response unit, who informed her that the driver would be indefinitely blocked from accepting or seeing requests from her. They also mentioned that they will connect with the driver for his side of the story and take disciplinary actions against the driver, which could involve sensitizing the driver regarding the impact of his words and actions or even terminate his account.
This incident has elicited a significant response on the social media sites as most users expressed shock and concern about the whole thing. Many users hypothesized that this message was possibly a wrong autocorrect or translation fault. But the woman stated that she tried many queries with native language words, and out of them, none translated except the word “apaharan” to “kidnap.”

This brings to mind the sense that users should trust their intuition and take action whenever something feels wrong. Again, it emphasizes the driver selection and safety procedures within these ride-sharing companies as means of avoiding such circumstances.
The horror of the Gurugram woman is a grim reminder of the risks that are often associated with ride-sharing services. However, with measures being undertaken by Uber, it becomes important for the users as well as companies to stay alert and focus on safety all the time. The case has also initiated a broader debate about digital communication and the dangers of miscommunication in the digital world
