Diwali, which is sometimes called Deepavali, is one of the most important Hindu holidays enjoyed all over the world. The dates for Diwali this year are October 29 to November 3, 2024. There are different rituals and practices for each day of the festival, and each day has its own meaning.

Dhanteras (October 29, 2024): People honor Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Dhanvantari, who is the god of medicine, on Dhanteras, the first day of the holiday. A lot of people think today is a good day to buy gold, silver, and other expensive things.

Choti Diwali / Narak Chaturdashi (October 30, 2024): Today, which is also known as Choti Diwali, is a celebration of Lord Krishna’s victory over the monster Narakasura. It is a sign that good will win over evil. Families perform the Abhyang Snan (holy bath) to cleanse the body and soul.

Diwali Lakshmi Puja (October 31, 2024): The most significant day of Diwali, Lakshmi Puja is dedicated to worshipping Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and fortune. Homes are decorated with lights and rangolis, and families do special prayers (pujas) to ask for wealth and happiness.

Vishwakarma Puja (November 1st, 2024): Devotees offer prayer to iron pumps, computer systems, iron tools, etc on Vishwakarma Puja in India.

Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj (November 2-3, 2024): The last two days of Diwali are celebrated with Govardhan Puja, which commemorates Lord Krishna lifting the Govardhan Hill to protect his devotees, and Bhai Dooj, a day dedicated to the bond between brothers and sisters.
