Starting on Wednesday, February 5 at 7 a.m., the 70-seat Delhi Assembly Election 2025 polling began Long queues of people lined outside polling stations scattered around the capital.

Voters among eminent personalities include Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, and President Droupadi Murmu.

Heightened Security Measures in Place

To guarantee calm voting across Delhi, around 30,000 police officers and 220 paramilitary companies have been sent in. Sensitive polling booths now feature specific security plans involving drone monitoring.

AAP Seeks Historic Third Term

Aiming for a third consecutive term, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other party officials campaigning aggressively. The party has pledged several social programs, including monthly cash help specifically for women.

BJP and Congress Eye Comeback

Both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are seeking a return to the Delhi Assembly. Whereas the Congress has promised different sops for Delhi voters, the BJP has concentrated its campaign on corruption allegations against the AAP administration.

Key Constituencies to Watch

Among the more prominent constituencies to keep an eye on will be Kalkaji, from which Chief Minister Atishi hails, and New Delhi constituency, from where AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal is fighting his re-election bid. Both of these constituencies have received robust candidates from BJP and Congress, respectively.

Voter Turnout Crucial

Over 1.56 crore voters decide the outcome as nearly 1.56 crore people choose the fate of 699 candidates. The Election Commission has developed a Queue Management System (QMS) app, enabling voters to instantly see queue levels.

Counting of Votes Scheduled

Delhi Assembly Election 2025 Vote counting is supposed to take place on February 8, 2025. During the poll date, the Election Commission has banned formulating, publicising, and distributing exit polls from 7 am to 6:30 pm.
