Alia Bhatt’s “Jigra” Faces Allegations of Nepotism and Fake Box Office Numbers
Since its release, Alia Bhatt’s latest film “Jigra” has been the subject of a number of controversies. The film, co-produced by Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar, has been accused of nepotism, phony box office stats, and unprofessionalism.
Actor Bijou Thaangjam, famed for his part in “Mary Kom,” has accused the film’s production crew of ghosting him after confirming his involvement. Thaangjam claimed that he was approached by the casting team in 2023 and informed that he would be shooting in December. However, he was left in the dark with no set shoot dates and thus missed out on other opportunities.
I’m not writing this with any agenda or accusations. I just want to share the reality of how actors like me from the Northeast are often treated by big production houses. Hopefully, this sheds some light on what we face. #Jigra #JigraMovie #AliaBhatt #DivyaKhosla #VasanBala pic.twitter.com/zZBZjxOz6k

Divya Khosla Kumar, who is also a big name in the business, has also said that the Jigra movie success at the box office is fake. It was not clear to her how the news was reported because she said the numbers were too high.
Alia’s filmography – Out of the 20 movies she has done, 15 movies of hers have either been produced or co produced by Dharma and/or someone with a Bhatt surname.

As the accusations got worse, Karan Johar posted a mysterious message on social media saying that the best thing to do is to stay quiet. This has only made things worse, and now fans and people who work in the business are guessing where the fights really came from.
A lot of people were looking forward to seeing the movie, but in its first weekend, Jigra only made ₹16.75 crore. Different reviewers have had different thoughts on the movie. The fight over it has made people worry about its future and how the business works.
As things get worse, the movie business needs to figure out what these claims mean and how to make things more open and professional.
