Heroic Sacrifice in Jhansi – Father Saves Babies, Loses Twin Daughters
He put his own life in danger to save several babies from a terrible fire at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College in Jhansi.
His name was Yakub Mansuri. His twin girls died in the fire, and he tried very hard to save them.
The fire broke out around 10:45 PM on Friday night, most likely because of a short circuit in the electricity. Mansuri, who was sleeping outside of the children’s ward, ran into the NICU, which was on fire, to save the babies. He saved a few babies, but his girls were among the burned bodies and he couldn’t find them.
Ten infant babies died in the accident, and sixteen others were seriously hurt. The government of Uttar Pradesh has said it will help the families who were touched by the accident by giving them money and ordering an investigation into what happened.
One of the most moving things about Mansuri’s story is how brave people can be when bad things happen. And he still wants justice for his children and the other fire victims. Many people are moved by his bravery and sacrifice.
