People who enjoy Navratri are lucky and happy. In all nine of her shapes, they honor Goddess Durga. There is a different goddess for each day of Navratri, and each one represents a different set of beliefs and traits.

This blog goes into more detail about how these nine forms are interpreted and what vahans are linked to them.

1. Maa Shailputri

Significance: The mountain’s daughter Maa Shailputri stands for purity and loyalty. On the first day of Navratri, she is the first sort of Goddess Durga revered.

Vahan: Bull—Nandi

2. Maa Brahmacharini

Significance: On the second day Maa Brahmacharini is worshipped symbolizing penance and austerity. She exemplifies knowledge and wisdom.

Vahan: None (showcasing barefoot walking).

3. Maa Chandraghanta

Significance: On the third day, devotees honor Maa Chandraghanta, a symbol of bravery and strength. Her crisp figure with a crescent moon over her forehead is well known.

Vahan: Tiger

4. Maa Kushmanda

Significance: Respected on the fourth day, Maa Kushmanda is supposed to have created the universe with her celestial smile. Her vitality helps to illuminate the earth.

Vatan: Lion

5. Maa Skandamata

Significance: Maa Skandamata, Lord Kartikeya’s (Skanda) mother, is honoured on the fifth day. She represents parenting and care.

Vatan: Lion

6. Maa Katyayani

Significance: Celebrated on the sixth day, Maa Katyayani is a bold and tenacious warrior goddess. Her capacity to eradicate evil is much appreciated.

Vatan: Lion

7. Maa Kaalratri

Maa Kaalratri

Significance: Devotees respect Maa Kaalratri on the seventh day since she stands for the destructive side of the goddess. She is renowned for her ferocious form and black complexion.

Vatan: Donkey

8. Maa Mahagauri

Maa Mahagauri

Significance: Maa Mahagauri, celebrated on the eighth day, stands for serenity and purity. She is supposed to provide her followers peace and tranquility.

Vahan: Bull

9. Maa Siddhidatri

Maa Siddhidatri

Significance: Maa Siddhidatri, who bestows upon her devotees knowledge and supernatural powers (siddhis), marks the ninth and last day. She finishes the Navadurga.

Vahan: Lotus

Navratri is a period of spiritual introspection and joy when followers search for the blessings of Goddess Durga in her several manifestations. Every manifestation of the goddess imparts different values and motivates us to live a moral life dedicatedly.
