The Delhi Excise Department has publicly said that October and November 2024 will not have any fees. On these days, alcohol will not be sold anywhere in the national capital. This is to make sure that national holidays and important cultural events are respected.

Dry Days in October
The following dates have been designated as dry days in October:
October 2: Gandhi Jayanti
October 5: Election-related
October 8: Vote counting for Haryana assembly elections
October 12: Dussehra
October 17: Valmiki Jayanti
October 31: Deepawali
Dry Days in November
In November, liquor shops will remain closed on –
November 15: Guru Nanak Gurpurab
November 24: Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day
Special Provisions
The notice also says that hotels with L-15 and L-15F licenses are not touched by the law that says they can’t sell alcohol and can still serve alcohol to their guests.
Rule 52 of the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, says that these days are dry. They are meant to honour national holidays and important cultural events.
This means that while most liquor shops will be closed, residents and visitors staying in licensed hotels will still be able to enjoy alcoholic beverages. It’s important for everyone to plan accordingly, especially with the festive season approaching.
