Since late Wednesday night, heavy rains have hit parts of Himachal Pradesh, causing multiple cloudbursts. Five people died because of it, and about 50 people are still missing. Thursday, cloudbursts hit the districts of Mandi, Shimla, and Kullu, doing a lot of damage and making things very difficult. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sent out a red signal for Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi, which means the situation is very bad.

Flash Flood Warning for Six Districts

Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Chamba, and Sirmaur are some of the areas that are at risk.

The Himachal districts at risk include Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Chamba, and Sirmaur.

Additional alerts may be issued based on IMD data.

The Union Home Minister has promised all the help he can give to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Two more National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are being sent to help with the rescue efforts.

Rampur is the worst-affected village because of this water blockage. The local MLA is reviewing the relief work on the spot. The government is making every effort to deal with the challenges of the situation arising after the disaster,” he added.

 CM said “Along with this, helpline numbers have been issued. These centers will remain functional round the clock for the service of the people,“.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is keeping a close eye on things and has told officials to help those who need it.

Resources from the Indian Army have been sent to help with rescue efforts. Three columns with a total of 125 people, an Engineer Task Force, and a Medical Team with 20 people have been sent to the Shimla district cloudburst spot.

  • Dharamshala: 183.2 mm
  • Jogindernagar: 161 mm
  • Kangra: 150 mm
  • Shimla: 64.6 mm
  • Sainj: 61 mm.

The situation in Himachal Pradesh remains critical, with rescue efforts ongoing and authorities closely monitoring developments. Residents in affected areas are urged to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines.
