Tragic Stampede at Hathras Satsang Claims Over 100 Lives
Hathras, Uttar Pradesh – A devastating stampede occurred during a religious gathering at Phulrai village in Hathras district on July 2, 2024, resulting in the deaths of at least 116 people.
The incident took place during the conclusion of a ‘Satsang’, a Hindu religious congregation, leading to chaos and suffocation as devotees tried to exit the overcrowded venue.
The stampede primarily affected women and children, with many victims succumbing to suffocation as they were trapped in the crowd. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Government Response on Stampede Hathras By Helping Victims Financially
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident. He also announced financial assistance for the families of the deceased and the injured.
Authorities have filed an FIR against the event organizers for failing to adhere to safety protocols and exceeding the permitted number of attendees. The investigation aims to determine the exact cause of the stampede and prevent such tragedies in the future.
The state government has announced a compensation of ₹5 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for those injured
Additionally, a high-level committee has been formed to review the safety measures at large gatherings and recommend improvements to prevent such incidents in the future.
This tragic event has cast a shadow over the community, highlighting the need for stricter safety measures at large gatherings to ensure the safety and well-being of all attendees.
